Mickey Mouse Clubhouse - Hot Dog Song

Cali loves the "Hot Dog" song from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.

Cali on the slide

Cali loves the slide. I hold her hands and she launches from the top. The girl is fearless!

A Show, Shoes, Slide

Cali has had a busy couple of days. My parents have been at our house most of last week and a few days this week to play with Cali while we worked. They took the weekend off to rest but were back Sunday night for more Cali time.

Cali had a play date last Wednesday with my sister and her son Michael. They came over to play with the grandparents. Cali and Michael got along well and even shared toys!

Saturday Cali and I spent the day at the Home Show in Greensboro. We had a booth set up for work so Cali and I were sales people. She was very friendly and welcomed everyone into our booth.

Sunday we went back to the show to meet up with Nick's Mom, Grannie, Ed and Darryl. We hung out there for a little while then went shoe shopping for Cali.
To keep Cali happy Grandma Jordan gave Cali her cell phone.
Stride Rite had a sale so Cali got 2 new pair of shoes courtesy of Grandma Jordan.

Then Grandma Kerry brought her another pair of shoes when they came Sunday night. So Sunday was new shoe day for Cali. Yeah for Grandparents!!

Grandma and Grandpa also brought this for Cali to play with from their house. A slide!

You can tell she loved it! It was funny how quickly she decided to try to climb UP the slide.

Sometimes I feel like Cali is a life size doll to dress up. Sunday was one of those days. She got this adorable dress from our friends for her birthday. I think she looks so cute in it. You can see from the picture she was not so excited about picture time.

She finally got happy when I turned on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.

She is clapping to the "Hot Dog" song.

Toyland Visit

Nick had to work Saturday so Cali and I went to Toyland, aka my sister's house, for a playdate. We had a great time playing with Kimmie, Michael and Mary. They have an awesome backyard with a really fun swing set.

Cali tried to swing but wasn't impressed.

Her favorite part was the clubhouse under the slide. Michael wanted to play with us. You can see Kimmie on the swing in the right corner of the photo. She just learned how to pump her legs while swinging and was showing off her skills!

Cali sat in there for 15 minutes playing with the leaves. I'm pretty sure she ate a piece or two! This face kills me. I'm not sure why she looks surprised.

After playing outside we moved to the basement which is filled with even more toys! After a couple hours of playing we had lunch and headed home. Cali was so tired from all the playing she was asleep before we got out of the neighborhood.

First Steps

Cali took her first official steps yesterday!!!!
Nick had her standing up in front of him and she took two steps toward me. It was awesome!

I'm so excited we were both there to see it!

Playing with Grandma

We continue to bribe our parents to watch Cali so Nick can work!

The past two days have been Grandma Jordan's turn! She was nice enough to take two days off from work and help take care of Cali. She came over Sunday night and left after dinner tonight.

Cali and Grandma had a wonderful time playing, eating, reading books and crawling all over the house (Cali not Grandma). It was a huge blessing to have her here to take care of Cali and help keep the house in order.

We are so lucky to have parents close enough that can help with Cali!

The Box

Let me start by saying I have an amazing husband! He is so creative and does an amazing job loving Cali everyday!

We had to get a second big girl car seat last weekend for Cali now that we have 2 cars that can cart her around. The new seat came in a large box.

Monday it was just a box. Tuesday it was turned into Cali's house!

Cali loves to play in and around it. She puts her toys inside the box, she'll open the windows to look and will just sit in it.

She even gives kisses through the window.

They are so cute!

Spaghetti

Nick made spaghetti for dinner tonight. And since it was bath night we let Cali feed herself. This was the first time she had eaten spaghetti. She was a slow starter but finished strong!

She loved the ground beef and tomatoes and then moved on to the noodles. It was a huge mess and we even had to wash her high chair cover.

I told Nick if we are ever eating out and I say that I'm going to order Cali some spaghetti he needs to stop me. Cause honestly - only a bath can clean this adorable face!

Park

Spring has arrived in NC! It was mid 60's and beautiful today. Nick and Cali took advantage of the weather and went to a park. Cali even got to experience a swing set for the first time.
You can tell from the smile she LOVED it!
The park was apparently so much fun that Cali took a 2.5 hour nap in her crib when they got back!

8 Hours

That is how many consecutive hours of sleep I had last night. That's right Cali didn't wake up once!! Praise the Lord. When my alarm clock went off this morning I was in shock. I haven't had 8 hours of continuous sleep in over a year!

Big Girl!

Cali is becoming such a big girl! It seems like she turned 1 and things just started to click.
The first thing was eating real food not baby food. The night before her birthday I just made one dinner for all three of us! She was happy as can be eating chicken casserole!

We went out to eat last night and I ordered Cali a meal off the kids menu! This is her playing with the menu. She has cheese pizza and milk.

Next came naps. For some reason so has decided it is tolerable to take them in her crib! She isn't always happy about it, but she'll sleep for 1-2 hours in there. It is such a huge help to have those mini breaks during the day.

Then came the pulling up on EVERYTHING! Nothing is safe anymore. If she can pull up on it or climb up to it she will. She is so close to walking! She is cruising from one piece of furniture to the next.

We have such a big girl! A toddler - WOW!

Entertaining the Grandparents

Nick and I decided that Cali needed to entertain my parents for a few days this past week, so they stayed at our house from Tuesday night to Friday night. Actually Nick had a lot he had to get done at his work so staying home with Cali wasn't an option. Since my parents are retired/ in between adventures we asked them to help.

This is a big deal because it is the first time Cali spent the day with anyone besides Nick and me. Wednesday went great! Cali was in a good mood and played well. Nick and I came home for lunch to check on things, feed Cali and get her down for her nap (in her crib!). Thursday was a little harder because Cali was teething (low grade fever, runny nose, whiny) and Nick was in SC for a conference. Cali wasn't as pleasant but the grandparents made it through. Grandpa even got to experience holding Cali for her 2 naps. Friday was better than Thursday but not as good as Wednesday.

I was so proud of Cali, Grandpa and Grandma for making it through! There were some tears shed, some screaming and a migraine involved but everyone came out alive!

This gives us hope that Cali will be OK with other people watching her when needed.

Thanks Grandma and Grandpa Vitkus - you were a huge help this week!
