6th Month Check Up

Cali and I went to the Dr. today for her 6 month check up. She was kind of tired so she was a little fussy. When she got her shots she was NOT happy. After a little cuddle time she was fine and took a nap on the way home.

Her stats:

16 lbs 4 ozs (50% percentile)
26.5 inches long (75% percentile)

Solid Food

Cali is 6 months and 5 days old today. Today she had her first solid food. We mixed rice cereal with breast milk. It went over pretty well! Check out the video and pictures.

Beach Trip #2

We just got back from a wonderful week vacation with my family. We stayed at an Air Force Recreation Center in Ft. Fisher. Cali and I went down last Friday with my parents and my sisters family. Nick had church on Sunday so he joined us Sunday evening.

The week was filled with trips to the beach, the pool, out to dinner, shopping, sightseeing, the aquarium and just relaxing. Overall Cali did great and enjoyed all the new adventures.

It was very entertaining in the house to have a 6 month old, a 14 month old and a 5 year old. As you can imagine it was rarely quiet during the day! There were toys everywhere, lots of squalls, banging on pots, ExerSaucer fun and Disney Channel. I know the Grandparents were in heaven!

Here are pictures from our trip! Enjoy!

#2

Cali had her second tooth make an appearance today! Her two front bottom teeth are coming in. With the help of Tylenol we are making it. She gets fussy from the pain but once you give her something to chew or suck on she does better.

Tummy Time

In the past 2 days Cali has really been into rolling over. She rolls when you change her and during play time. The problem begins when she gets on her tummy, once there she doesn't know what to do. She can move her legs to get her butt in the air but doesn't understand that she can use her arms to help in the process. So after a few seconds of struggling she starts to scream. We roll her back over only for her to roll back over to her tummy and scream again.

Well.. this struggle has now hit bed time! I got Cali down by 8pm tonight. Nick and I were being productive around the house when the monitor lights up at 8:43pm. Nick runs upstairs to find Cali face down on the crib screaming. Nick and Cali are currently watching Classical Baby and rocking. It is going to be a long night!

Cali Splashing in the Pool

Beach Adventure

We had a great time with Nick's family at Myrtle Beach this week! Quality time with Grandma, Uncle Andy, Aunt Jen Jen and cousin Leigha. It was great for Cali to get to spend so much time with family and for them to see her during the day when she is happy. Leigha (5 yrs old) loves Cali and loved trying to get her to laugh. She was helpful in picking up toys when Cali dropped them and with diaper changes.

We left Wednesday afternoon. Cali did well in the car with the help of 2 naps, toys and Classical Baby on YouTube on my Blackbery.

Thursday included a walk on the beach, playing in the ocean, shopping and dinner out. And of course the appearance of her first tooth!

Friday was more shopping, hanging around, and dinner out.

Saturday included playing at the pool and the drive home. This road trip was a little more difficult. The first 35 minutes were filled with screaming and crying. Once we stopped to eat she was so tired she slept the rest of the way home.

Here are pictures from our trip!

Cali's first time in the ocean. She LOVED the water. She couldn't keep her eyes off the water.

Cool picture with the sea spray.

Drying off with mommy!

We stayed in a 2 bedroom condo. Our room had 2 twin beds and no room for Cali's Pack N Play so... we put it in the closet. This worked surprisingly well. Nick took off the doors and in went the bed. It was easy to take care of her because she was right by my bed.

In the Mouth

Cali is getting so good at playing. It seems like it took forever for her to actually PLAY with her toys. For the first few months Nick and I would play with her toys while she watched. No more! Now she loves to play and most of all put everything in her mouth. You can't give her anything without her grabbing it and putting it in her mouth!

ummm - yummy toys!

STTN

aka Sleeping Through The Night

According to the baby books this is defined as sleeping 6 hours in a row. However, for everyone who has tried to live off 6 hours of sleep know that it is not sleeping through the night.

Cali sleeps for 6 hours straight some nights, but she still hasn't gotten into a consistent rhythm. So when she goes down at night I have no idea what to expect.

Here are some samples from the last 2 weeks of Cali's sleeping schedule:

Bed at 8:30pm, up from 11:30pm to 2am, up at 5:45am ready for the day
Bed at 9pm, up at 11:30pm, up at 4:30am, up at 7am ready for the day
Bed at 8pm, up at 3am, up at 6:45am ready for the day
Bed at 8:15pm, up at 10:45pm, up at 2:30am, up at 5:30am, up at 9:45am ready for the day

One night she will actually sleep through the night (more than 6 hrs!) and I'm sure I will still wake up waiting for her to call for me. Or I may just pass out with amazement.

Well I as write this, she has just woken up after an hour of sleep (8pm-9pm). Lets see if I can get her back down.

**UPDATE**
25 minutes later she is down

Date Night

Nick and I got to go out again last night (2nd time since having Cali). Nick's mom and Granny came over to watch Cali. Poor ladies got SCREAMED at for an hour. Finally Cali cried herself to sleep. This is the down side of Cali not being in a daycare of some sort - she only knows her mom and dad.

But Nick and I had a great dinner with good food and conversation. And to Nick's excitement Red Oak on tap was the beer special for the night.

Thanks Grandmas for getting screamed at so we could enjoy a date!
