20 Month Twin Update

It's time for your monthly twin update of cuteness!  And yes, I'm biased!  They are 110% toddlers now and go all the time!  Hannah is our thinker and doer.  Henry is the destroyer.  Hannah builds towers and Henry knocks them down.  Hannah colors pictures, Henry ripes up pictures.  Hannah sits quietly playing and Henry runs around the house.   They may be twins but they are two very different people.

Henry 20 Months

It continues to amaze me to watch them interact.  Hannah's favorite thing is her bear, Pinkie, and Henry loves his paci.  As soon as one of them starts crying the other searches the house for the crying twin's favorite item.  An example was when I put Henry in time out yesterday (he was throwing toys) and he was crying.  Hannah quickly comes around the corner, arm stretched out, with a paci for him.  My heart warmed at the sight!  I of course had to steer her away since he was in time out.

MONTHLY UPDATE:

Food - They drink milk, water and juice from sippy cups.  Henry will eat anything and lots of it.  The boy isn't picky and he lets you know when he's hungry!   We are still keeping Hannah Gluten Free to see if it helps.  She is a picky girl so some meals are a challenge to find something for her to eat. 

Sleep - The nap transition continues, somedays they nap twice and others it is only one.  They go to bed at 7:30pm and wake up around 7:30am.  The two hour naps in the afternoons are a wonderful gift!

Clothes - Hannah is in 12 month and 18 month.  Henry is in 18 month clothes.  Hannah is in size 5 shoe and Henry just moved up to size 6. 

Weight -  Hannah 21 lbs Henry 26 lbs  

Height - Hannah 31 inches Henry 33 inches  

Diapers - Size 3

Health - Hannah had her second laser treatment on her lip to remove the redness from her hemangioma.  If you look at her now you can barely see anything!  Praise the Lord!

Fun Facts - Hannah loves Micky Mouse and would watch it all day if we let her.  Henry loves to play outside and will reach for whoever is closest to the door.

18 Month Twin Update

The twins are a year and a half today!  The first thing that comes to my mind is, "we survived!"  Having twins is intensely difficult.  Everything is times two!  But having twins is also a huge blessing.  Henry and Hannah love each other and have so much fun together.  They truly care about one another! Today Henry ran into something (happens about 5 times a day) so he was crying and Hannah brought him a paci to cheer him up.  It was adorable!  Henry will also bring Hannah her favorite teddy bear, Pinkie, if she is upset.  It is so sweet to see them interact.  Don't get me wrong they also have their moments.  They will steal a toy from the other without hesitation and knock one another down to get to a desired item!  Nothing is as much fun as when your twin is playing with it!  They are also all about equality.  You can't give one a sippy cup without the other whining for one too!

Henry 18 Months

They are growing up so much.  We took the kids to the local park last week and everyone got to play.  Last summer and fall the twins had to suffer in the stroller while Cali ran around playing.  This time they were right there with her running around and climbing.

Henry's favorite things include: pacifiers (don't judge!), BALL, the dog, food, milk, playing outside and mommy (again don't judge!).

Hannah's favorite things include: any toy she can carry around, Pinkie the bear, marshmallows, milk, talking and playing by herself.

MONTHLY UPDATE:

Food - They drink whole milk and water from sippy cups.  Hannah also enjoys juice boxes.  They eat three meals a day and get two snacks.  Favorite foods include: french toast sticks, pears, goldfish, chicken, green beans, pasta and veggie chips.  Henry can out eat Cali and Hannah remains reserved in her food choices. 

Sleep - The nap transition continues, somedays they nap twice and others it is only one.  They go to bed at 7:30pm and wake up around 7:30am.  

Clothes - Hannah is in 12 month some 18 month tops.  Henry is in 18 month clothes.  Both are in size 5 shoe.

Diapers - Pampers size 3

Health - Hannah has her first laser treatment for her hemangioma this month.  The doctor said it will look worse before it gets better and she will be mad as a hornet during the procedure.  Wish us luck!

Fun Facts - Henry has ten teeth and Hannah has twelve.  

Wagon rides are also very popular these days!  Hannah has a bubble wand and Henry has a stick.  They also like to switch sides mid-walk. 

16 Month Twin Update

Henry and Hannah are 16 months old today!  They are really acting like toddlers these days!  They even go to the toddler room at church.  They walk/ run everywhere.  Henry continues to be a destroyer and a climber.  Boys!  He is also very sweet and loves to cuddle.  Hannah is so sweet and a talker!  She plays so calmly and has a purpose with her play.

They are getting so big and are able to do so much more these days.  They even respond well to requests (Like "put your cup on the table") and understand so much of what we say.   As the weather has been warming up we have been spending more time at playgrounds.  They both do well running around, climbing the stairs and they love going down the slide!

MONTHLY UPDATE:

Food - They drink whole milk and water from sippy cups.  They eat three meals a day and get two snacks.  Favorite foods include: breakfast foods, crackers, cookies and pasta.  Henry will eat anything where Hannah is picky!  

Sleep - They are in the process of dropping down to one nap a day.  We are still working on the schedule for this.  Somes days the nap is in the morning only and other just the afternoon.  They go to bed at 7:30pm and wake up around 7:30am.  

Clothes - Hannah is in 12 month.  Henry is in 12 month and 18 month size.  Both in size 5 shoe.

Weight -  Hannah 19 lbs Henry 23 lbs  

Height - Hannah 29.5 inches Henry 31 inches  

Diapers - Pampers size 3

Health - Hannah's Hemangioma meds are going well.  It looks like we will do some laser treatment sometime this year to help reduce the red color.

15 Month Twin Update

The twins were 15 months old yesterday!  Nick and I continue to be amazed at how quickly they are changing.  Every day they figure something else out and sometimes that means climbing on something or over something we thought was "twin proof".   They are full time walkers/ runners now and they are getting very good at it.  They love to climb on chairs, toys, sofas, and up the stairs.

They really love each other but also drive one another crazy!  They love to steal toys from each other.  There are constant battles over toys or mommy/daddy's lap.  A toy is always more fun when someone else is playing with it!  The gender differences continue to show themselves as well.  Henry is a 100 mile an hour player and goes hard.  Hannah is a calm girl who has a plan when she plays.

Cali continues to do wonderful with the twins!  She loves to play with them and entertain them.   Thier favorite activity to play together is hide and seek.  Cali is a great hider but Henry always knows where to find her!  Its adorable!

MONTHLY UPDATE:

Food - They drink whole milk and water from sippy cups.  They eat three meals a day and get two snacks.  Favorite foods include: chicken, green beans, broccoli, potatoes, ground beef, noodles, dried apples, crackers, pancakes and french toast sticks.  Henry will eat anything where Hannah is picky!  

Sleep - They nap at 10am and 3pm.  They go to bed at 7:30pm and wake up around 7:30am.  The naps are 45 minutes to 2 hours long.  Henry normally sleeps longer than Hannah.  

Clothes - Hannah is in 12 month.  Henry is in 12 month and 18 month size.

Health - Hannah's Hemangioma meds are going well.  The red spot is getting lighter.  Both babies are teething so they have some cranky days.
Fun Facts - Henry has seven teeth and Hannah has seven.  The twins understand a lot of what we say and are starting to react to the things we say!  If I ask the babies if they want their milk they both will go to the fridge.  Henry grunts and makes a lot of noises.  Hannah is a talker.  Both babies like to dance.

We've taken the kids to the park twice this week since it has been so nice.  It is a great way to get the kids tired and let them explore!  They love it!

13 Month Twin Update

Henry and Hannah are 13 months old!  It is so fun to see them discover new things.  Hannah is really doing well walking.  She isn't walking full time but she is getting more confident each day.  She is also growing in her vocabulary.  Her main words are: Momma, Dada, Uh oh, and she tries to say Cali.

Henry is an explorer.  He is constantly trying to climb on something, crawl under something or open something.  He keeps us on our toes!  If it ever gets quiet and we don't see Henry we know he is up to something!  He is also growing in his vocabular with: Momma, Dada, and ball.  The boy loves to bounce and throw balls.

The twins just adore Cali!  They love to play together and laugh at her often.

Food - They drink whole milk and water.  They eat three meals a day and get one snack.  The main foods they like are chicken, green beans, broccoli, potatoes, ground beef, noodles, dried apples, crackers, pancakes and french toast sticks.  Henry will eat almost anything you put in front of him and he eats a lot of food!  Hannah is more picky with her food so it can take a while to find something to fill her up.  

Sleep - They take a morning nap and an afternoon nap.  They nap at 10am and 3pm.  They go to bed at 8pm and wake up around 7:00am.  The naps are 45 minutes to 2 hours long.

Clothes - Hannah is in 9-12 and some 12 month.  Henry is in 12 month size.

Weight -  Hannah 18 lbs 1 oz Henry 24 lbs 6 oz   Yes Henry is huge compared to Hannah!

Health - Hannah's Hemangioma is doing well but when we stopped her meds it became red again.  So we are back on meds for another 3 months at that point we will re-evaluate and see if any further treatment is needed.
Fun Facts - Henry loves to stand up with a ball in his hands and throw it while standing.  Hannah loves to play with the big legos and blocks.  Her favorite thing is to knock down towers that others build.  Both babies learned how to wave bye-bye this week.

11 Month Twin Update

Wow!  That is all I can say!  The twins are 11 months old today!  One more month and they will be a year old!  Time has flown by but in some cases that is ok because having two infants is ridiculously hard, I mean want to loose your mind hard!  If I didn't have Nick by my side for the last 11 months I would be in a world of hurt.  There are some people who love babies, we are not those people.  We like toddlers and teenagers.  So we are looking forward to the next stage with the twins.  It will be chaos but oh so much fun!

Nick and I make a great team and Cali is a big help.  She continues to amaze me with her love for her little brother and sister.  I hear things like "Mommy, I made Hannah laugh", "Mommy, Henry and I are playing family" or "Mommy, the babies want you".  So sweet!  She is also the best way to get the babies happy if they are grumpy.  Cali will start singing and dancing around for the babies and the tears stop.  She is our secret weapon!

MONTHLY UPDATE:

Food - Four bottles a day of formula and three solid food meals.  Hannah takes 5-7 ozs, Henry 5-8 ozs.  They are eating a ton of food these days.  Favorites are: chicken, mac-n-cheese, cereal, green beans, pancakes, waffles, and veggie chips.  Henry can eat as much as Cali during some meals!  Nick mentioned today that Henry is going to be expensive to feed.  If we are eating out we order a kids meal for the babies to share.  

Sleep - They take a morning nap and an afternoon nap.  They nap at 10am and 3pm.  They go to bed at 8pm and wake up around 7:00am.  Hannah doesn't need as much sleep as Henry so she will wake up from the afternoon nap about 45 minutes before Henry.  She has even skipped the afternoon nap a time a two.  Not a good idea in my book!

Clothes - Hannah is in 6-9 and some 9-12 month.  Henry is in 9-12 and 12 month size.

Weight -  Hannah 16 lbs 15 oz Henry 20 lbs 7 oz  (they went to the Dr. this week so these are the official numbers) Yes Henry is 3.5 lbs bigger than Hannah!

Height - Hannah 27.5 inches Henry 29 inches  

Diapers - Pampers size 3

Health - Hannah's Hemangioma looks so good.  We are in the process of reducing her medication and will go in December to see if she needs further treatments.  Henry has a small ear infection so he is on anti-biotics.

Fun Facts - Hannah has 2 teeth and Henry has 3 with a 4th about to break through.  Henry continues to climb onto anything he can find.  He is also getting very good at standing so walking is just around the corner.  Hannah's official first word is "Momma" and she knows it means me!!

9 Month Twin Update

It seems like a lot of changes have happened in the last month in the twins.  Mobility being the main one.  You can not leave the babies in a room by themselves and expect them to be where you put them when you get back.   They are getting into everything, pulling up on things and falling a lot.  Hannah is touch and takes the spills pretty well, where Henry acts like the world is over every time he falls - which is a lot!  Henry loves to pull up on people and walk while holding someones hands.  Hannah continues to be our talker.  We don't know what she is saying but it must be important!

MONTHLY UPDATE:

Food - Four bottles a day of breast milk and formula mixed.  After 9 months I'm working on weaning them off of breast milk.  I'm super proud that I was able to keep up this long!  Hannah takes 5-7 ozs, Henry 5-8 ozs.  They love to feed themselves so anything that we can cut up and give them they love.  95% of what they eat I make which is so much cheaper than packaged baby food!  They have been Gluten Free thus far and we will work on introducing Gluten this month to see how they react. We pray they will have no reaction and will not have Celiac Disease like me.  

Sleep - They take a morning nap and an afternoon nap.  Henry seems to need more nap time than Hannah so she usually wakes up before him and gets special play time.  They nap at 10am and 3pm.  They go to bed at 8pm and wake up around 6:30am.  

Clothes - Hannah is in 6-9 month.  Henry is in 6-9 and 9-12 month size.

Weight -  Hannah 16 lbs 4 oz Henry 18 lbs 6 oz

Their little personalities are really coming out and it is so wonderful to watch them interact with each other and Cali.  They LOVE Cali!  She is a big helper and a great source of entertainment for them.

8 Month Twin Update

Henry and Hannah are eight months old today!  I say this every month but man it goes by fast!  It seems like the key to the first year with babies is survival.  Once you get past the year mark you can start to breath and relax some.

Due to scheduling and life being crazy the babies just went to their six month check up this week.  They got 2 shots and did great!

The Dr. suggested we start to introduce sippy cups.  Cali is showing Hannah how to do it.  Hannah liked it but Henry wasn't a fan.  We'll work on it.

MONTHLY UPDATE:

Food - Four breast milk bottles a day.  Hannah takes 5-6 ozs, Henry 5-8 ozs.  They love solid food and are experimenting with finger foods.  They get three solid food meals a day.   They love green beans, pears, bananas, avocado, and carrots.  Hannah prefers fruit while Henry likes the veggies.

Sleep - They take a morning nap and an afternoon nap.  They are in the process of dropping the third nap.  Some days they make it with 2 naps some days they need 3. They go to sleep at 8pm and wake up at 6:30am.  

Clothes - Hannah is in 3-6 and 6-9 month.  Henry is in 6-9 month size.

Weight -  Hannah 15 lbs 4 oz Henry 17 lbs 11 oz

Height - Hannah 26 inches Henry 28 inches  

Diapers - Pampers size 3

Health - Hannah continues to improve on the meds for the Hemangioma.  Somedays you can't even see her red spot!  She also seems to have "food sensitivity" to strawberries.  So we will avoid those for a while.  She ate strawberry yogurt and her skin turned red on her face where the yogurt was.

Fun Facts - Henry is a tummy sleeper.  If you lay him down on his back we will roll over to his tummy.  Hannah is very laid back.  She will sit and play by herself with little complaint.   She is also a big talker.  Henry is a mover and has started to creep/ crawl.  

Six Month Twin Update

The twins are 1/2 a year old today!  Crazy, crazy!  Time seems to be going by so quickly with three little ones filling up our days.  The twins sweet personalities are really coming out now.  

Hannah is a home body like her Daddy.  When at home she is happy, calm and content.  When we are out she is very clingy to Mommy and Daddy.  Henry is very needy at home and when we are out he is calm and relaxed.  Hannah is very picky about who can hold her and Henry will go to just about anyone!  

They are also getting more mobile.  Henry is especially interested in moving and getting into things. He is a very good supported sitter.  He will sit up and play with toys happily.  Hannah prefers to be laying down playing or standing up.  She does pretty well sitting up but doesn't enjoy it as much.

MONTHLY UPDATE:

Food - Breast milk on a 3-4 hour schedule during the day and 4-8 hours at night.  Using bottles and nursing.  They also get rice cereal after one or two feedings.  We are starting to introduce veggies this week.  Henry eats 5-7 ozs and Hannah eats 4-6 ozs of milk.

Sleep - They take a morning nap, a lunch time, an afternoon and evening nap.  Night time was doing good until they both got ear infections.  But they are working back up to 6-8 hours stretches.  

Clothes - Hannah is in 3-6 month and some 6-9.  Henry is in 6-9 month size.

Weight -  Hannah 13 lbs 11 oz Henry 15 lbs 4 oz

Diapers - Pampers size 2, Huggies size 3

Health - Hannah continues to improve on the meds for the Hemangioma.  Both babies had double ear infections in the past week.  Henry's showed up first then 3 days later Hannah.  Some amaxacillin and they were good to go. 

Fun Facts - Henry is a mover.  If you put him down he is gone.  Hannah is a talker.  She will talk and talk.  She particularly likes to yell at her pink bunny. 

Twin five month update

The twins were five months old yesterday!  And big changes are happening!  They are both very active and vocal babies.  Henry can do full rolls.  His record is 3 in a row!  Hannah is almost ready to roll and can squirm around on her back.  They both love to talk, laugh and make lots of fun sounds.  We also moved them into separate cribs yesterday!  It was there first time EVER sleeping apart.  It went pretty well and we have high hopes going forward.

MONTHLY UPDATE:

Food - 100% breast milk on a 3-4 hour schedule during the day and 4-8 hours at night.  Using bottles and nursing.  Henry eats 5-6 ozs and Hannah eats 4-5 ozs.

Sleep - They take 4 one hour naps a day.  And they are officially "Sleeping through the night" if you use the 6 hour definition most nights.  We only get up once (typically) to feed them at night.  

Clothes - Hannah is in 3-6 month.  Henry is in 3-6 and some 6-9 month size.

Weight -  Hannah 12 lbs 8 oz Henry 13 lbs 8 oz

Height - Hannah 22 3/4 inches Henry 24 inches  

Diapers - Pampers size 2
